En Route to Reaccreditation 2010-2015
The Periodic Review Report 2010
The Campus has engaged in the process of developing a comprehensive assessment of its institutional effectiveness in order to comply with the accreditation requirements of the Middle States Commission of Higher Education (MSCHE), our accrediting agency. As a higher education institution UPR-RP must be accredited by its regional accrediting agency in order to grant credits that are transferrable and access federal funding. The Periodic Review Report (PRR) is meant to maintain the accreditation status by showing that the institution is in compliance with MSCHE standards halfway to the next self-study process. It also provides for the appraisal of the institution’s progress in achieving its goals and objectives as stated in its strategic plan University Vision 2016. The Report is to be presented to the MSCHE in May 2010, five years after the Commission conferred reaccreditation. The PRR offers an opportunity for profound and rigorous reflection regarding the fulfillment of our mission, goals and objectives, as well as our efficiency in operationalizing plans to enhance the institution, and present accomplished efforts from 2005 to 2009. Likewise, this document includes relevant information that demonstrates UPR-RP compliance with accreditation standards as required by MSCHE.
This endeavor began with the formation of a Steering Committee responsible of collecting all necessary information for the preparation of the PRR. This Committee is chaired by Dr. Sonia Balet, Dean of Academic Affairs and its members are:
Dr. Haydeé Seijo, Interim Dean of Graduate Studies and Research
Dr. Mayra Charriez, Interim Dean of Student Affairs
Sr. José Juan Estrada, Dean of Administration
Dr. Edwin Martínez, Executive Director of the Division of Academic and Administrative Technologies
Dr. María T. Jiménez, Chair of the Office for Academic Planning
Ing. Edgardo Rodríguez Rodríguez, Director of the Office for the Preservation of University Facilities
Daphne Domínguez, Special Assistant to the Chancellor
Dr. Laura Galarza, Liaison Officer for University Vision 2016 Plan
Dr. Mirerza González, Periodic Review Report Coordinator
The Committee is working closely with Prof. Julio Rodríguez, Coordinator of the Office for the Assessment of Student Learning, College deans and Academic Program chairs, as with assessment coordinators of student learning and institutional effectiveness. The Committee is responsible of gathering information concerning implemented strategic actions and the assessment of obtained results. The Committee will also identify initiatives taken by each academic and administrative unit since 2005 in response to petitions, recommendations and suggestions expressed on the 2005 MSCHE Report.
This webpage offers updated information regarding the PRR and MSCHE accreditation process. UPR-RP is confident that the PRR will allow the educational community to ponder on the effectiveness of campus academic and administrative management in order to recognize challenges and opportunities faced by the institution en route to the reaccreditation process of 2015. |
